The Beast from the East and the Mini Beast caused a headached in many areas, but here between the parishs of Malborough and South Huish we own a gritter and this has certainly been put to good use this winter. The gritter team is made up of Dave Illingworth from South Huish plus Cllr Paul Pedrick and Cllr Kevin Yeoman from Malborough, all the work they undertake is voluntary and they also pay for the petrol used as well as the higher insurance costs for their vehicles to tow the machine.

Throughout the winter they have kept the roads as clear as possible between Malborough and South Huish which has allowed the First Reponders and the Hope Cove Life Boat to remain operational despite the poor weather - as well as ensuring that many locals were far less affected than those in other areas. South Huish Parish Council would like to thank everyone involved with keeping the gritter operational and making the roads in the parish much safer during the poor weather. Well done team, you are very much appreciated!

Additionally we would like to thank those farmers who spent their time digging out some of our more rural parishioners as well as those of you who helped clear pavements and gritted areas that the gritting team couldn't reach. Again, thank you very much, your efforts and community spirit during this period were incredible, proving once again that we live in a wonderful parish and pull together in times of need.
