Waste Service Update

Update received from SHDC on 4th June 2021:

We are extremely disappointed that our much heralded new recycling service is failing for some of you.

We have made it absolutely clear to FCC Environment (UK) Limited, who are contracted to deliver the service, that performance is in some cases extremely poor and far below the standards we expect for our residents. FCC understand that there is an urgent need to improve their delivery of the service in some areas.

As a Council, we are doing everything we can to make sure that FCC resolve the issues and are constantly reviewing the situation with them so that they get back on track and collections are restored to the previously high standard as soon as possible.

FCC have introduced:

• a range of extra vehicles
• recruited more crews to get your recycling picked up
• LGV drivers from different areas of the country due to the difficulty of recruiting drivers in the South West

These are temporary measures until the collections are back on track.
